Alan Minthorn is elected by a two vote margin in recount
SACO – Alan Minthorn has prevailed over 11-term councilor Arthur Tardif in a recount after first winning by three votes.
The recount, as requested by Tardif, confirmed the final tallies of 260 votes for Minthorn and 258 votes for Tardif, narrowing the race to just a two point spread. Minthorn was declared the winner by Saco City Clerk, Michele Hughes.
“I don’t take this win lightly,” says Councilor-Elect Minthorn. “I’d like to thank Art for his decades of service on the Saco City Council and in our community.”
Tardif had previously been serving on the Saco City Council since 1993. Minthorn will be sworn into office in a ceremony on December 7th.
“This is your seat not mine and I hope to represent you to the best of my abilities,” says Minthorn. “I’m committed to meeting preparation, viewing issues from any and all sides, and casting votes based on Ward 5 resident input as well as what's best for Saco as a whole.”
